Jay Granberry

Being charged with a criminal offense is a significant event in anyone’s life.  The government is accusing you of wrong doing and is often prepared  to take away your liberty.  When confronted with such accusations you need someone with the right experience to defend your rights.  Jay Granberry is that attorney.

A graduate of Texas Tech University, Jay worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. before entering the Baylor University School of Law.  Jay has spent the vast majority of his legal career in the courtroom.  After 10 years as a state prosecutor, followed by 11 years as a partner in a private firm, Jay Granberry opened up his own law office in Bryan/College Station, Texas.

In his well over 130 jury trials, Jay successfully prosecuted all types of cases from DWI’s and drug possession to the more complicated and emotional cases for the Brazos County District Attorney’s office in sexual assaults. murders and capital murders.  Now Jay Granberry brings that hard won experience and expertise to bear for the benefit of defending his clients.  His clients find him to be hardworking, accessible and aggessive.

Jay has been designated by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a Specialist in Criminal Law, recognizing an advanced level of expertise in the area of criminal law.

“The State must meet a high burden of proof in a criminal case precisely because what is at stake: the liberty of a citizen.  My role is to defend and protect the accused, and to hold the State to their high burden and to the rules of justice.” – Jay Granberry

Criminal defense attorney Jay Granberry is licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas to practice in Texas state courts.  In addition to his criminal defense practice, Jay is a past president of the Brazos County Bar Association and has served on the board of numerous charitable and civic organizations in the Brazos Valley.

Most significantly, Jay is a husband to an Aggie wife and the father of 3 children.  As a father and longtime instructor of legal classes at Blinn College, Jay has a deep understanding of the concern parents have in seeing that an isolated incident does not dim the bright prospects of their college student in our community.
